Members of the Task Force that met in Paris on 5 and 6 February 2009 to provide input on the Istanbul Water Consensus and the program of the Local and Regional Authorities Days.
Final call to register for World Water Forum in Istanbul, 16 to 22 March 2009
A special programdedicated to Mayors and other high-level representatives of local and regional authorities will be offered at the Fifth World Water Forum in Istanbul providing a forum to put local perspectives on current water issues into focus.
On Wednesday, 18 March, the program will include three topical sessions on
On Thursday, 19 March, representatives of local and regional authorities are invited to take part in
- good water governance,
- local risks of climate change,
- sanitation and urbanisation
Highlight on Thursday, 20 March, will be the ‘trialogue’ between local and regional authorities, parliamentarians and representatives of ministries.
- a dialogue with parliamentarians on issues of water as a human right and on the link between decentralisation and effective water management;
- a General Assembly of Local and Regional Authorities for the endorsement of the Istanbul Water Consensus and a debate on decentralised cooperation.

The World Water Forum’s website includes a special place for the registration of local and regional Authorities: www.localauthorities.worldwaterforum5.org.
ICLEI members can receive their login details for the on-line registration by writing to email@example.com.
Mayors or other high-level representatives of cities and regions leading a delegation to attend the World Water Forum will be exempted from the registration fee.
Processing their registration through the on-line system, Mayors from least developed countries can apply for financial assistance to cover part of their costs for participation.
