ICLEI speaks at the UN 60th Annual DPI/NGO Conference

Ms Michelle Wyman, Global Coordinator of ICLEI’s Cities for Climate Protection™ Campaign, spoke at the annual DPI/NGO Conference, held at the United Nations from 5-7 September 2007.  The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Climate Change:  How it Impacts Us All’.  Ms Wyman spoke on ‘Sustainable Development, Accountability and Ethical Standards’.

The Conference focused on the facilitation of individual action plans that address the growing concerns associated with climate change and its profound and decisive impact on human well-being. This conference addressed solutions by helping interested parties to develop concrete practices that can be both implemented and shared.  The Conference also planned to highlight the interconnection between climate change and other Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

More than 2,000 representatives of NGOs worldwide registered for the DPI/NGO Conference, with all plenary and roundtable sessions webcast live on UNTV as well as the Conference website <http://www.undpingoconference.org>.   The organizers planned to disseminate the Conference through media channels in order to disseminate the Conference messages to a broader global audience.
