Top 10 clean technology centers: many are ICLEI Members

ICLEI Members have been ranked among the top 10 new ‘Silicon Valley’ of the new clean technology sector worldwide. The new book, ‘The Clean Tech Revolution: The Next Big Growth and Investment Opportunity”, lists the following ICLEI Members as the world’s top ‘clean tech’ centers:  Vancouver (Canada), Copenhagen (Denmark), Chicago (U.S.A.), Austin (U.S.A.), Freiburg (Germany), Hyderabad (India), New York City (U.S.A.), Portland (U.S.A.), and San Francisco (U.S.A.).  The other city that ranks in the top 10, but is currently not an ICLEI Member is Shanghai (China). The book describes clean technology as any product, service or process that delivers value using limited or zero non-renewable resources and/or creates significantly less waste than conventional offerings. It goes on to say that clean technology is evolving from an environmental issue to big business, opening a world of opportunities for companies, entrepreneurs and investors.
