Call for sustainable procurement best practices
The European RESPIRO Project, to which ICLEI is a partner, is looking for good practice examples from local governments on socially responsible procurement in the construction and clothing/textile sectors.
While RESPIRO works primarily with local governments in Europe, the Project is eager to learn from other local governments worldwide. These best practices should include tenders, code of conducts, social criteria, municipal resolutions and/or polices, etc.
Examples of socially responsible procurement criteria in the construction sector are, among others:
The RESPIRO project aims to encourage an exchange of experiences including social and ethical requirements in procurement actions both between public and private sector purchasers and potential suppliers. For more information on the project, please visit www.respiro-project.eu.

- Sustainable building materials.

- Accessibility criteria (barrier free buildings).
