Chin, Dae-Shik appointed ICLEI Korea Office Director

  Mr. Chin, Dae Shik was appointed as Director of the ICLEI Korea Office. The newly appointed Director of ICLEI’s Korea Office, Mr. Chin, Dae-Shik introduced himself to Secretary General Konrad Otto-Zimmermann on the occasion of the Local Renewables 2007 Conference in Freiburg (Germany). Mr. Chin explained his ideas for a prosperous development of ICLEI in Korea and presented a draft Strategic Plan for ICLEI Korea. Promising initiatives in the areas of climate protection and sustainability management are envisaged. Mr. Chin studied urban planning and holds a Masters degree in Public Administration. He has worked with the Jeju Provincial Government for about 30 years in planning, international relations, tourism, and trade. He has had several special assignments including serving as Team Leader for the annual exchange meeting of Mayors and Governors of Korea–Japan comprising eight local authorities, and organizer of the twinning relations with the state of Hawaii (U.S.A.), Bali (Indonesia), Sakhalin (Russian Federation), and the Province of Hainan and City of Dalian (China). ICLEI’s Korea Office is generously hosted by the Special Self-Governing Province of Jeju.
