Greater London Authority joins ICLEI’s Procura+ Campaign

May 20, 2008

ICLEI’s Sustainable Procurement team is happy to announce that the Greater London Authority (GLA) has recently joined the Procura+ Campaign. Procura+ is an initiative designed to help support public authorities across Europe in implementing Sustainable Procurement – and help promote their achievements.

In June 2006, the GLA Group adopted a new Sustainable Procurement Policy, which made a clear statement of the GLA group’s commitment to adopting responsible procurement practices. It was also agreed and implemented across the Greater London Authority (GLA), Transport for London (TfL), the London Development Agency (LDA), London Fire & Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA) and the Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) / Service (MPS), collectively known as the GLA group. The GLA group – which invests over £3 billion each year in goods, works and services – uses its procurement to London’s best advantage.
