New Delhi International Conference on “Cities & Climate Change”

21-22 February 2011, at the Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, India

Speakers from across the globe in the field of city administration, politics, policy making and experts on the subject contributed their knowledge to the discussions around Energy Efficiency & Conservation, City Transportation Management System, Waste Management, Water Conservation & Management, Bio-diversity & Adaptation, Renewable Energy & Green Neighbourhoods and City Climate Policy & Registry.

ICLEI President and Vancouver Councillor David Cadman, spoke in the inaugural session, and highlighted the strength ICLEI South Asia has in the region with around 50 Members cities across India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Maldives.

The conference included many high level speakers including Dr. Motek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Dr. Leena Srivastava, Executive Director, TERI, Dr. Griffin M. Thompson, Manager, Energy and Climate Progammes US Department of State Govt. of US, the Chief Minister of Delhi, Martin Chavez, Executive Director of ICLEI USA and former Mayor of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA and Shri P. Uma Shankar, Secretary (Power), Government of India.

Cities represented at the conference include Makati City (Philippines), Hyderabad (India), the City of Coimbatore (India), Suncheon City (Republic of Korea), Ann Arbor (USA), New Delhi, India and many more.
