The 4th International Solar Cities Initiative World Congress, 16-19 September 2010
July 18, 2010
The 4th International Solar Cities World Congress will draw local-level politicians, civil servants, suppliers and scientists from all over the world to share their experiences and insights on solar energy.
ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is an endorser of this year’s ISCI congress and Konrad Otto-Zimmermann, Secretary General of ICLEI, is a keynote speaker at the event.
Traditional methods of generating energy have negative implications for the planet. All over the world, ideas, techniques and solutions are being developed to reduce dependence on traditional energy sources. Solar energy is a sustainable solution to the energy needs of cities.
The ISCI Congress program reads, “The knowledge is there; the basic techniques are available and have been greatly improved. We just have to start using it on a larger scale.”
Host city, Dezhou is dubbed China's "Solar City” for its firm commitment to solar energy. The Congress Center itself is described as an impressive showcase of the application of solar energy and energy conservation techniques.
The congress will over a variety of interesting parallel sessions under these themes:
1. Urban Planning and transportation
2. Low Energy Buildings
3. Solar Cities Examples and Policies
4. Renewable Energy Technologies
5. Energy Infrastructure
